Marinebiotech.net is a Web site that provides access to materials from the Marine Biotechnology and Bioinformatics was a professional development program from 2006-2009 that prepared science teachers to use the latest biotechnology and bioinformatics techniques to investigate a local marine phenomenon, non-native mussels. Through the site, teachers, researchers, and anyone else interested in marine biotechnology and bioinformatics can retrieve presentations and lesson plans.
The site offers a number of ways for you to find this information, including:
Additionally, a sitemap of the entire site can be found here.
Information listed under Program is organized into the different subject areas: marine science, molecular biology & genetics, biotechnology, bioinformatics, STEM careers, and educational technology. Each subject area is further divded to include things such as presentations, field exercises, lab exercises, background scientific literature, supplemental learning activities, lesson plans created by participant teachers, and other program materials. Documents are available in Word, Powerpoint, and PDF formats.
Photos and Videos capture different aspects of the program.
The Lesson Plan Matrix lists all the lesson plans created byparticipant teachers and is listed according to grade level, title, and subject area.
Publications and conference presentations were given as part of this project. Links to these materials are provided.
Results from research conducted from this program are captured from a science perspective, an education perspective, and programmatically. Information listed under Research Results are divided into 4 different areas: raw data, scientific findings, science education findings, and program evaluation.
Information about the program, staff, and frequently asked questions (FAQ), and program sponsors are listed in the About Us section.
