Products

The MBB staff and participants generated a variety of products during the course of the project.

Publications

The Principal Investigators, Instructional Designer, and Evaluator published their work on this program and these products are found on this page.

Presentations

The Principal Investigators, Instructional Designer, and Evaluator shared their experiences at conferences and some of the presentations and posters are found on this page.

Workshop Materials

The MBB program staff developed a wealth of materials that were used during the summer institutes and the academic year sessions. A comprehensive, descriptive, and interactive outline of all these materials is found here.

Participant Lesson Plans

Teacher participants created lessons that reinforced their new learning. During the summer institute teachers worked in groups to develop lesson plans that they then taught to the student participants. During the academic year teachers also developed and implemented lessons in their classrooms based on the summer workshop. These lesson plans were presented in the Participant Project Showcase Event at Moss Landing Marine Labs. Both the group and the individual lessons are found here in an interactive table.

Participant Projects

During the program, teacher participants developed lessons for student participants at the institute and/or for their own classrooms. To complete their projects, teachers assessed their lessons and presentated their results at a culminating Showcase event. The presentations summarizing their projects are captured here.

Photos and Videos

Various program activities were captured as photos or videos and are found on this page.

Virtual Lab Visits

Teacher participants had the option of arranging “virtual lab visits” for their classrooms during the school year. At their school site a noise-canceling Skype speakerphone was connected to the classroom or computer lab computer as well as a digital projector. At the Moss Landing Marine Labs site we used a mobile wifi enabled still camera and a wireless Skype telephone to enable two-way communication with the classroom. High school students were able to interview Dr. Bartl as she walked around the labs explaining equipments and asking Socratic questions. More details on these virtual visits and sample recordings of these sessions are found here.
